YouTube Playlist Extractor: Free CSV Export

YouTube Playlist Extractor

Extract every video title, link, and duration from a YouTube playlist. Export as CSV or a link list.

Works with playlist links and watch links that contain a list= parameter. The playlist must be public or unlisted. Personal Mix / Radio playlists cannot be read.

How to Extract a YouTube Playlist

1

Paste the URL

Copy any public YouTube playlist link and paste it above.

2

Extract Videos

Our tool reads every listed video's title, link, channel, and duration.

3

Copy & Export

Copy all links in one click or download the full list as a CSV file.

A YouTube playlist extractor turns a playlist link into a clean list of every video's title, link, channel and duration. Paste a public or unlisted playlist URL, click Extract Playlist, then copy the links or export a CSV. It suits teachers, researchers, marketers and anyone who needs a playlist in a spreadsheet.

What Is a YouTube Playlist Extractor?

A playlist extractor reads a YouTube playlist page and returns the listed videos as an organized table. For each video you get the position number, title, watch link, channel name and length. Nothing is downloaded from the videos themselves. You only collect details that YouTube already shows publicly.

Every playlist has an ID, which is the text after list= in its address. IDs for playlists that people create usually start with PL, and album playlists from YouTube Music often start with OLAK5uy_. The tool uses that ID to find the playlist, so any link containing a valid list= value is enough.

How to Use the YouTube Playlist Extractor

You can extract a playlist in four quick actions: copy the link, paste it, extract, then export. Here is the full flow.

  1. Open the playlist on YouTube and copy its address from the browser bar. On a phone, tap Share and choose copy link.
  2. Paste the link into the YouTube Playlist URL field.
  3. Click Extract Playlist.
  4. Check the header above the table. It shows the playlist title, the owner, the video count YouTube reports and how many videos were extracted.
  5. Click Copy all URLs for a plain link list, Copy titles + URLs for a "title - link" list, or Export CSV to download a file.
  6. Click Open on YouTube if you want to compare the result with the original playlist.

Which Playlist Links Does It Accept?

The extractor accepts playlist links, and also watch links that contain a list= parameter, as long as the playlist is public or unlisted. This is how the common cases behave.

Link typeResult
Playlist page linkWorks
Watch link with a list valueWorks
Album playlist from YouTube MusicWorks
Personal Mix or Radio (ID starts with RD)Not supported
Private playlistCannot be read

How do you find a playlist URL or ID?

Open the playlist and look at the address bar: the playlist URL is the full address, and the ID is the characters after list= up to the next ampersand. If you are watching a video inside a playlist, the watch link already carries that value, so you can paste it as it is. You can also paste a bare ID that begins with PL.

Worked Example: Turning a Course Playlist Into a Spreadsheet

Say a teacher shares a short course playlist with three videos. You paste its link, click Extract Playlist, and the header reads something like "3 videos extracted". The table lists each video in order with its title, channel and duration.

Suppose the durations are 12:30, 8:45 and 21:05. Click Export CSV and open the file. The Duration (s) column holds 750, 525 and 1265 seconds. Add them and you get 2,540 seconds, which is 42 minutes and 20 seconds of total viewing time. Dividing by 60 gives the minutes, and the remainder is the seconds.

That one file now works as a syllabus, a reading-order checklist and a time estimate. Add a "watched" column and you have a progress tracker.

How to Read and Use the Results

The results table has four columns, and each one is useful for a different job. Knowing what each holds helps you pick the right export.

  • # is the position in the playlist. Keep it if order matters, such as lessons or episodes.
  • Title links to the video. Titles can include commas and quotes, and the CSV keeps them intact.
  • Channel links to the uploader. A playlist with many different channels is a curated mix; one channel means a series.
  • Duration appears as minutes and seconds, or hours when needed. A dash means YouTube did not list a length for that row, which can happen with live streams or unavailable videos.

Which export should you choose?

Choose Copy all URLs when you need raw links for a bookmark manager, a document or a bulk-open workflow. Choose Copy titles + URLs when readers need to see what each link is. Choose Export CSV when you plan to sort, filter or sum anything. The file is named youtube-playlist.csv and includes the position, title, URL, channel, duration and duration in seconds.

What does a good result look like?

A good result is one where "videos extracted" matches the count in the header. If the extracted number is lower, read the notice shown under the header. It tells you the list was cut off at the first 100 videos.

Who Is This Tool For?

Anyone who needs a playlist outside YouTube will find it useful. These are the situations where it saves the most time.

  • Teachers and course creators turn a lecture playlist into a reading list with durations for planning class time.
  • Content marketers audit a competitor's series: how many videos, how long each runs and which titles come first. Pair it with the YouTube Channel Analyzer to study the channel behind it.
  • SEO and video researchers pick a standout video from the list and check its keywords with the YouTube tag extractor.
  • Writers and students collect every link for citations, then pull the text of key videos with the YouTube transcript generator.
  • Podcast and music curators keep an offline record of an album or episode list before they rearrange it.
  • Team leads share one clean list of training videos in a ticket or wiki instead of a long, messy message.

If a playlist has long videos with chapters, the YouTube Chapters Extractor can break an individual entry into jump links, and the YouTube Thumbnail Downloader helps when you want the cover images for a roundup post.

Best Practices and Troubleshooting

Most failed extractions come from the link, not the tool. Check these first.

You see "Unable to Extract Playlist"

The message explains the cause. If it says to enter a valid playlist URL, make sure the link contains list= followed by the ID. Links to a single video with no list value do not work. If the message begins with "YouTube says:", YouTube itself reported a problem such as a private or removed playlist.

You see "This Playlist Appears to Be Empty"

YouTube returned the page but listed no videos. The playlist may truly be empty, or every video in it may be hidden or unavailable. Open it with Open on YouTube to confirm.

You see "Playlist Data Could Not Be Read"

This is usually temporary. Wait a moment and click Extract Playlist again.

A Mix or Radio link is rejected

Personal Mix and Radio lists, whose IDs start with RD, are built for each viewer and have no fixed contents. Save the songs you want into a normal playlist first, then extract that one.

Other habits that help

  • Set a private playlist to unlisted on YouTube if you own it and want to extract it.
  • Export the CSV straight away if you plan to keep the list, because playlists change as owners add or remove videos.
  • Use the duration seconds column for math. The readable duration column is for people, not formulas.

Limitations to Know About

The tool lists what YouTube shows on the playlist page, and that has limits. YouTube serves only the first 100 videos of a playlist without scrolling, so a 250-video playlist returns its first 100 and a notice explains the cut. If you need the rest, one workaround is to add the later videos to a second playlist on YouTube and extract that one.

The tool returns metadata only. It does not download video or audio, and it does not total the runtime for you, so use the CSV for that. Videos that YouTube hides or removes may be missing, and private playlists cannot be read.

A playlist is easier to plan, share and analyze once it lives in a table. Paste your playlist link into the YouTube Playlist URL field above and click Extract Playlist to get your list in seconds. For more utilities like this, browse the YouTube and social media tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I extract a YouTube playlist?
Paste the playlist link into the YouTube Playlist URL field and click Extract Playlist. The tool lists each video's position, title, link, channel and duration. For example, a 3-video playlist returns three rows you can copy or export as a CSV right away.
How do I get a YouTube playlist URL or ID?
Open the playlist and copy the address from your browser bar; that is the playlist URL. The ID is the text after list= up to the next ampersand. On mobile, tap Share and copy the link, then paste it into the tool.
Can I export a YouTube playlist to CSV?
Yes. After extraction, click Export CSV to download youtube-playlist.csv with position, title, URL, channel, duration and duration in seconds. You can add the seconds column in a spreadsheet to get the total runtime of the playlist.
Why does the extractor only return 100 videos?
YouTube serves only the first 100 videos of a playlist without scrolling, so longer playlists are cut off. The tool shows a notice with the number extracted. Compare it with the video count in the header to see how many are missing.
Does the extractor work with private or Mix playlists?
No. Private playlists cannot be read, and personal Mix or Radio playlists (IDs starting with RD) are not supported because they have no fixed contents. Public and unlisted playlists work, including album playlists from YouTube Music.
Is the YouTube playlist extractor free, and does it download videos?
The extractor is free and needs no sign-in. It does not download video or audio. It only collects metadata such as titles, links, channels and durations, which you can copy or save as a CSV file.
