Social Media Bio Generator

Generate optimised bios for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and YouTube.

This social media bio generator builds five ready-to-edit bio options for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube or Facebook from your name, profession, skills and an optional call to action. Each result is fitted to the platform's character limit, so you can tweak your favorite and paste it straight into your profile.

What Is a Social Media Bio?

A social media bio is the short profile text that tells a visitor who you are, what you do and what to do next. It sits at the top of your Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, Facebook or YouTube profile, or in your LinkedIn headline, and most people read it in a few seconds before deciding to follow you.

Every platform caps its length, and spaces and punctuation count toward the cap. These are the limits listed in the Platform menu:

PlatformCharacter limitWhat to focus on
Instagram150Role plus a clear CTA
TikTok80What you do, up front
LinkedIn headline220Role, skills and value
X / Twitter160Your most interesting trait
YouTube1,000Keywords, schedule, links
Facebook101What you do and who you help

Because limits differ so much, a bio written for YouTube will not fit on TikTok. That is why the tool asks for the platform first.

How to Use the Social Media Bio Generator

You need four short entries and one click. Name, profession and skills are required; the call to action is optional.

  1. Type your name or brand in Your name or brand name, for example Sarah Johnson or TechFlow.
  2. Open the Platform menu and choose where the bio will live. The character limit appears next to each option.
  3. Enter your role in Profession or niche, such as Fitness Coach, Digital Marketer or Travel Blogger.
  4. Pick a voice in Tone / Style: Professional, Casual & Friendly, Creative & Playful, Bold & Confident or Minimal & Clean.
  5. List what you offer in Key skills, services, or value you offer, separated by commas.
  6. Add a line in Call to action (optional), such as "DM me for a free consultation" or "Link below for free guide".
  7. Click Generate Bios. Edit any result in its text box, then use its copy button. Click Regenerate to get a fresh set.

Worked Example: A Fitness Coach on Instagram

Here is a realistic input and what it produces. Say you enter Sarah Johnson as the name, choose Instagram, type Fitness Coach as the profession, select Casual & Friendly, list "weight loss coaching, meal plans, online programs" as skills and add "DM me for a free consultation" as the call to action.

One of the five results reads: Sarah Johnson | Fitness Coach ✨ weight loss coaching, meal plans, online programs | DM me for a free consultation

The counter shows 113 / 150. That is about 75% of the limit, so the length bar turns yellow: the bio fits with 37 characters to spare, but it is getting full. If you want to add an emoji or a location, you now know exactly how much room you have.

Now switch the platform to Facebook (101 characters) and keep everything else. Your name and call to action take up 48 characters, leaving 53 for the middle. Your profession and skills need 65, so the tool shortens that part and ends it with three dots. The result fits, but the skills list is cut off. The fix is to trim your skills to the one or two that matter most, or shorten the call to action.

How to Read and Act on Your Results

Each variation shows a counter such as 113 / 150 and a colored length bar, which tells you at a glance whether the bio fits and how much space is left.

What the length bar means

  • Green (up to 70% of the limit): plenty of room. Add a keyword, a location or a second skill if it helps.
  • Yellow (70% to 90%): a good working range. Make small edits and watch the counter as you type.
  • Red (over 90%): very tight. Any extra word or emoji could push it past the limit, so cut a word before you add one.

What the three dots mean

If a bio ends in three dots in the middle of your skills, the tool had to shorten it to fit. Rewrite that part by hand, or go back and use shorter skills.

Using the Bio Optimisation Tips

Below the results, the Bio Optimisation Tips section gives advice for the platform you picked. On TikTok it reminds you to state what you do in the first five words and to point to your link-in-bio. On LinkedIn it suggests starting with your current role and naming two or three key skills. On YouTube it notes that the first 100 characters show in search results, so keywords should come first. Read these before you copy, since they tell you what to edit.

What Should a Social Media Bio Include?

A good social media bio states who you are, what you offer, who it helps and what the reader should do next. If you can cover those four things in one or two lines, you have covered what most visitors want to know.

  • Your name or brand: the generator puts this first so the profile is easy to recognize.
  • Your role or niche: use the words people would search for. "Fitness coach" is more findable than "coach".
  • Specific skills or services: two or three concrete items beat a long list.
  • A call to action: one clear next step, such as sending a message or visiting the link in your profile.

On image-heavy platforms, a bio that names a clear niche helps visitors decide quickly whether to follow. Pair it with a strong social media banner on platforms that show a header image, and the profile feels finished.

Who Is This Bio Generator For?

It suits anyone who needs a clean profile bio without staring at a blank box. These are the situations where it saves the most time:

  • New creators setting up Instagram or TikTok who want a few layouts to compare.
  • Freelancers and consultants writing a LinkedIn headline that lists skills and a soft invitation to connect.
  • Small businesses that need the same core message trimmed for six platforms with six different limits.
  • Social media managers setting up several client accounts and wanting a fast first draft to refine.
  • YouTube channel owners who want a longer description with keywords near the start.

Best Practices and Common Mistakes

The tool arranges the details you give it, so the quality of the input decides the quality of the bio. These habits give you better drafts.

Be specific in the skills field

"Marketing" tells a visitor little. "Email campaigns, landing pages, paid social" tells them what you can do for them. Use commas between items so each one reads clearly.

Keep the name and call to action short

Your name and call to action are placed around the middle section, and they use up part of the limit first. The tool needs at least 12 characters of room for your profession and skills. If you see a message asking you to shorten your details, trim the name or the call to action. This usually happens on TikTok (80 characters), where a long call to action leaves almost nothing for the rest.

Generate more than once

Click Regenerate to see a different mix of layouts. The five bios use the same details in different arrangements and punctuation, so compare them and combine the parts you like in the text box.

Edit before you copy

Every result is an editable text box. Add a line break, swap in an emoji, or swap a separator, and the counter updates as you type. This is also the moment to put your strongest keyword first.

Match the tone to the audience

Professional and Minimal & Clean suit LinkedIn and consulting brands. Casual & Friendly and Creative & Playful fit lifestyle and creator accounts. Bold & Confident works for coaches and personal brands that want a direct voice.

Finish the rest of the profile

A bio works best alongside the other parts of a profile. Plan your first posts with the social media caption generator, add discoverability with the hashtag generator, and choose posting windows with the best time to post calculator. If you want to check a final draft against platform limits, the social media character counter is a quick second check, and the social media image resizer helps with a profile photo that crops cleanly.

Limitations to Know

The generator organizes your own words; it does not research your market or write a unique slogan. The five options are variations of layout and punctuation, so expect to polish the one you pick. It also cannot know your platform's latest rules, and the limits shown are the ones listed in the Platform menu. Check the profile editor once after pasting, since a platform may count emoji or line breaks differently. For LinkedIn, the tool targets the headline, not the longer About section.

Use the generator above to turn your details into five platform-ready options, pick the one closest to your voice, adjust it until the length bar is green or yellow, and copy it into your profile today. Frequently Asked Questions

What is a social media bio?
A social media bio is the short profile text that says who you are, what you do and what visitors should do next. Instagram allows 150 characters, TikTok 80 and X/Twitter 160, so every word needs a purpose.
How do I make a good social media bio with this generator?
Enter your name, platform, profession, tone and skills, then click Generate Bios. You get five options to edit and copy. Use specific skills such as meal plans or email campaigns, and add a call to action for the best results.
What should a social media bio include?
A strong bio includes your name or brand, your role or niche, two or three specific skills or services, and one clear call to action. The generator arranges these in that order, so you only need to supply good details.
Does the bio generator keep results within each platform's character limit?
Yes. Each bio is fitted to the limit shown in the Platform menu, such as 150 for Instagram or 80 for TikTok. A counter shows the length, and a bio that is too long is shortened with three dots at the end.
Why does my generated bio end with three dots?
The three dots mean your profession and skills were longer than the room left after your name and call to action. Shorten the skills list, shorten the call to action, or pick a platform with a higher limit like LinkedIn.
Is the social media bio generator free, and do I need to sign in?
The tool is free, and you do not need to sign in. Fill in your name, profession and skills, click Generate Bios, then edit and copy any result. Use Regenerate whenever you want a different set of five options.
