Plain Text (TXT)

Clean, readable transcript without timestamps, ideal for content repurposing, SEO, and AI tools.

SRT Subtitles

WebVTT (VTT)

Web-native caption format for HTML5 video players and accessibility tools.

A Dailymotion transcript generator turns the subtitles of a public Dailymotion video into text you can copy or download. Paste a video link, click Get Transcript, and you get the full transcript, a timestamped version, and SRT and VTT files in any subtitle language the video offers. It is free and needs no sign-in.

What Is a Dailymotion Transcript?

A Dailymotion transcript is the written text of everything captured in a video's subtitle track, usually the spoken dialogue. The tool reads the subtitle track attached to the video and formats it for you. It does not listen to the audio, so the quality of the text depends on the track the video already has.

Dailymotion videos can carry two kinds of tracks. Creators sometimes upload their own subtitles, which tend to be cleaner. Other videos only have auto-generated subtitles, which are produced by speech recognition and can misspell names, brands and technical terms. When a video has several tracks, the tool labels the auto-generated ones so you know which is which.

The four formats you get

  • Full Transcript: plain text with the timing removed, ready to paste into a document.
  • Timestamped: one line per subtitle segment, starting with the time in brackets, such as [1:05.20].
  • SRT: the SubRip subtitle format, with numbered cues and start and end times. Most video editors and players accept it.
  • VTT: the WebVTT subtitle format used by HTML5 video players. It starts with a WEBVTT header.

How to Use the Dailymotion Transcript Generator

You need a public Dailymotion video link and about ten seconds. Follow these steps.

  1. Open the video on Dailymotion and copy its link from the address bar. A standard watch link, a dai.ly short link or an embed link all work.
  2. Paste the link into the Dailymotion Video URL field, or click the Paste button to pull it from your clipboard.
  3. Click Get Transcript. A short status message shows while the subtitles are being extracted.
  4. Check the video card that appears. It shows the cover image, title, channel, length, publish date and the subtitle language, so you can confirm it is the right video.
  5. If the video has more than one subtitle track, open the Caption language menu and pick another one. The transcript switches instantly, so you do not need to press the button again.
  6. Choose a tab: Full Transcript, Timestamped, SRT or VTT.
  7. Click Copy to send the visible text to your clipboard, use Select All to highlight it, or download a TXT, SRT or VTT file.

Worked Example: A 5-Minute Product Review

Say you paste the link of a 5-minute gadget review into the tool and it finds an English track. The result panel might show 720 words, about 4,100 characters and 90 segments, with a read time of 4 minutes (720 words at roughly 200 words per minute is 3.6, rounded up to 4).

In the Timestamped tab, you would see lines like [0:12.40] Today I am testing the new battery case. That line tells you the sentence starts 12.4 seconds into the video, so you can jump straight to that moment to quote or fact-check it. In the SRT tab, the same sentence becomes a numbered cue with a time range such as 00:00:12,400 to 00:00:15,000, followed by the text.

With that output you could paste the Full Transcript into a blog draft, pull three timestamped quotes for a social post, and upload the SRT file to another player as a subtitle track. One link, three jobs.

How to Read and Act on the Results

The numbers above the transcript tell you how much text you have and whether it is worth using as is.

  • Words and Characters: the size of the text. A 10-minute talking-head video typically produces well over a thousand words. A very low count for a long video suggests a sparse or incomplete subtitle track.
  • Segments: how many subtitle cues the track contains. Many short segments are normal for fast speech. Few, very long segments often mean the track was written for readability rather than tight timing.
  • Read Time: an estimate of how long the text takes to read, useful when you are deciding whether to summarize it.
  • Language label: shows which track you are viewing. Labels marked Auto-generated need a proofreading pass.

What good and poor output look like

A good result has proper sentences, correct names and steady timing. A poor result has missing punctuation, repeated words, odd spellings of names or phrases that make no sense in context. For a poor result, first check whether the Caption language menu offers a manually uploaded track and switch to it. If only an auto-generated track exists, read it against the video once and fix names, numbers and product terms before you publish anything.

Who Uses a Dailymotion Transcript Tool and Why

Anyone who needs the words from a video without typing them out can use it. These are the common cases.

  • Content writers and bloggers: turn a video into a draft article, a list of key points or an accurate pull quote with a timestamp.
  • Researchers and students: search a lecture or interview for a phrase instead of scrubbing through the timeline.
  • Journalists and editors: verify exactly what a speaker said and when.
  • Video editors and translators: download SRT or VTT files as a starting point for editing or translating subtitles.
  • Accessibility reviewers: check whether a video has a usable subtitle track at all, and in which languages.
  • SEO and marketing teams: repurpose spoken content into text that search engines can read. Google cannot index what is only spoken in a video, but it can index a transcript placed on a page. Use the text to write a summary, a FAQ or a blog post that targets related searches.

If your source material lives on other platforms, the same idea works there too. Try the YouTube transcript generator for YouTube links, the Vimeo transcript tool for Vimeo, or the Rumble transcript generator for Rumble.

Best Practices and Troubleshooting Tips

Most problems come from the link or from the video itself, and each has a quick fix.

Use a clean, public link

Paste one video link only, in the form https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8abc12. Links to a channel page, a playlist or a search result do not point to a single video and will be rejected. If you see a message asking for a valid Dailymotion video URL, copy the link again from the video page itself.

Understand the error messages

  • Please enter a Dailymotion video URL: the field was empty. Paste a link or use the Paste button.
  • Could not be found: the video ID in the link does not match a video. Check for a cut-off link or a typo.
  • Reported as unavailable: Dailymotion says the video is private, deleted or geo-restricted. The tool cannot read those videos.
  • No transcript or subtitles available: the video has no subtitle track. If the Dailymotion player shows no subtitle option, there is nothing to extract.
  • Unable to Fetch Transcript: something went wrong while reading the video or its subtitles. Wait a moment and try again, or try a different language track.

Clean up before you reuse the text

Subtitle segments are split by timing, not by sentence, so the Full Transcript may break mid-thought. Add paragraph breaks, fix names and remove filler words before you publish. Never post a transcript of someone else's video as your own work. Quote it, credit the creator and link back to the original video.

Pick the right format for the job

Use the Full Transcript for reading, summarizing and writing. Use Timestamped when you need to cite moments. Use SRT for most video editors and many players. Use VTT for web video players that follow the HTML5 standard.

Limitations and Accuracy Notes

The transcript is only as good as the subtitle track on the video. The tool does not create subtitles for videos that have none, and it cannot correct errors in an auto-generated track. Timing also comes from the original track, so if the creator's timing was off, the SRT and VTT files will be off by the same amount.

It also does not download the video file itself. If you are searching for ways to download Dailymotion videos, this page will not do that. It gives you text and subtitle files only. Private, deleted and region-blocked videos are out of reach, and so are videos on other sites.

For short-form clips, the TikTok transcript generator follows the same copy-and-download workflow. For talks, the TED Talk transcript generator is built for ted.com links. You can find more tools for video and social platforms in the YouTube and social media tools hub.

Once you have a transcript, you can also pull topics and phrases from it for tagging. Try the hashtag generator to turn those phrases into hashtags for your post.

Paste your Dailymotion link into the field above, click Get Transcript, and you will have copyable text and SRT or VTT downloads in seconds. Pick the best subtitle track, proofread the key lines and put the words to work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get a transcript from a Dailymotion video?
